Rory's Story

My husband and I recently had to put our dog Bridgette to sleep due to an illness. We decided to rescue a dog instead of buying one. Our first place to look for another dog was the Rancho Cucamonga Animal Care and Adoption Center.

I will be perfectly honest, I had heard several rumors about your shelter, but I have always found it clean and neat, so we decided to go there first.

I found the rumors to be totally untrue and I want the employees at the shelter to know how I appreciated their kindness in trying to adopt a cute female dog they named Rory. When we saw Rory in the cage, we fell in love with her and found her to be just what we were looking for. Because she was a small young dog, there were several inquiries about her. The shelter decided to take applications for her adoption. At first I was disappointed, but after thinking about it, I decided the shelter was only trying to find the best home for her. We filled out the application and went home. We decided to visit her everyday until they made a decision who she would go to.

During the visits I met an employee named Dusty. She was very professional and friendly. She put up with our visits with Rory and said that was what the staff was there for - to find homes for the pets. I realized that she and all the employees of the facility have a hard job to do and that maybe the general public does not realize that.

When Dusty called us and told us that we were the best home for Rory, I was so excited that my husband and I rushed down to the shelter to adopt Rory. We did not take Rory home until the next day as she had to be spayed. We love her!

I want to thank and give kudos to Dusty and all the employees of the animal shelter.
