If you need help with an animal-related emergency, call 466-PETS (7387) and ask for Field Services Dispatch. After normal business hours, call (888) 229-5883.
Rancho Cucamonga’s Animal Field Services officers respond quickly to our community’s animal law enforcement and rescue concerns:
- capturing vicious or dangerous animals, or animals posing a traffic hazard
- rescuing stray sick or injured animals, or abandoned animals
- investigating cases of animal cruelty or neglect
- picking up confined stray animals
- investigating barking and other nuisance noise complaints
- picking up stray and wild deceased animals
- providing assistance to the police and fire departments
If you need help, call 466-PETS (7387) and ask for Field Services Dispatch. An officer is available from 8 am to 6 pm, seven days a week. If you have an emergency outside these hours, call (888) 229-5883. After hours, officers can respond to emergencies only (calls about animals in danger, or animals posing a danger to humans).
Complaints and Investigations. Our animal services officers investigate complaints and issue citations when laws related to animals have been violated. Our officers address many common animal problems in the community, including:
- aggressive and/or loose dogs
- animal neglect, including improper shelter or care
- nuisance noise complaints, such as excessive barking
- leash law violations
- licensing violations

Wildlife. Although wildlife in your neighborhood may initially seem to be a concern, most wild animals are not dangerous to humans and we can all live very well together. Helping our community to balance wildlife “care” and “control” is an important part of an animal services officer’s duties. Field Services has an online fact sheet to help you coexist peacefully with your local wildlife.
If you have a specific wild animal situation you need help with, please call Field Services Dispatch at the numbers above. Our dispatcher will be happy to give you advice, and can dispatch an officer if needed. Please note that, unless there is an immediate threat to human life, Field Services will not trap, relocate, or kill healthy wildlife. We can and will rescue sick, injured, or orphaned (baby) animals, and can relocate dangerous animals to more appropriate habitat.
